Prishtina, 9 March 2018

By supporting and strengthening higher education institutions, we support our mission and a determination to provide education to students. This was the statement of Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj today in his key note address to the students of this university on marking the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Public University "Kadri Zeka" in Gjilan.

Before numerous participants such as representatives of institutions, academicians, professors, students, Prime Minister Haradinaj, pledged an unreserved support for higher education institutions, which, he said, has already been provided to children and students, as is the case with the University of Gjilan.
Prime Minister Haradinaj called the establishment of the "Kadri Zeka" University a special moment, saying that even as a society we are gaining momentum.

“Five years since establishment of university, 10 years since Kosovo became a state. Our state-building has its own challenges and difficulties, perhaps even its drawbacks, but it is, however, the right decision, we are on the right path and we will continue building our state. By building Kosovo, we help ourselves, our determination, its people living under these skies of Kosovo, but at the same time we help our fellow countrymen wherever they may be "said Prime Minister Haradinaj.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Haradinaj highlighted the challenges that Kosovo faces with the re-conceptualization of teaching standards, saying that the shock that came from the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education is more a consequence of failure to communicate and distortion of the facts and at the same time an effort for small benefits.

“We will be together to rectify this because we know its importance" said Prime Minister Haradinaj, adding that the ability to learn constitutes an asset for us and the concluding concept of education is based on the acquisition of knowledge, action for common life and learning about it.

Likewise, the Prime Minister said that, based on rational criteria, the university needs to empower the citizens to reject any arbitrary and violent politics and oppose it by aiming for the idea of justice and freedom.

“We are living in a rapidly changing world, the core problems of the studying in Kosovo are the failure to properly communicate, the prejudice to new knowledge, the non-compliance of our mindset with the new global trends and technologies, so we should be open and learn from those who have transformed the ideal, through knowledge, into prosperity, "said the Prime Minister.

Further on, the Prime Minister, in his key note speech to the students, said that the goal of being part of the advanced world begins with you, with the ability to change our mindset so that Kosovar students can compete in the single labor market in the European Union. To achieve this, the Prime Minister said, we will be ready to work harder to build a completely independent education based on scientific, emancipatory and Western criteria.

Rector of "Kadri Zeka" University, Bajram Kosumi said that the journey of this university has been successful over the 5 years. He said that "Kadri Zeka" University aims to create networking of its scope with international universities.  "Kadri Zeka" University is giving its contribution in this respect. The diploma of each of our 300 students entails efforts of students, faculty and government. That diploma is not merely a piece of paper. That diploma makes us proud, "said Rector Kosumi.

At this event, where present were also the management of "Kadri Zeka" University, Prime Minister Haradinaj said that the Government and all Kosovo institutions are aware of the irreplaceable importance of higher education institutions provided to students.

Prime Minister Haradinaj on this occasion received a gratitude for his contribution to the establishment of the campus of the “Kadri Zeka" University.
